CANDHy will present its final results at its Final Workshop in Brussels on November 4

CANDHy project will hold its Final Workshop on Wednesday 4 November, from 9:00 to 12:00, in Brussels, Belgium (hosted by the CANDHy partner GERG – The European Gas Research Group), also offering the possibility to follow the workshop online. The workshop will bring together CANDHy partners to present the main results and conclusions after three years of research on studying the compatibility of non-steel metallic materials used in gas distribution grids with hydrogen. Attendees will learn about the project’s experimental work, modelling activities, the CANDHy database and practical guidelines launched by the consortium. The workshop will open with Ludovico Mazzocco, Project Officer from GERG -The European Gas Research Group, who will deliver the welcome and opening remarks. He will then introduce Lidia Martínez Izquierdo, R&D Coordinator at Aragon Hydrogen Foundation and CANDHy project coordinator, who will provide an overview of the project and the key experimental activities carried out. Next, Virginia Madina, Researcher in Materials and Processes at Tecnalia, will present the main project results and insights.

The second part of the programme will explore the project’s modelling work, data and practical outcomes. Marina Cabrini, Researcher in Corrosion and Electrochemistry at the University of Bergamo, will cover the key modelling approaches, results and lessons learned to identify hydrogen-induced embrittlement in metallic materials. Jean Baptiste Jorcin, Senior Researcher at Tecnalia, will introduce the CANDHy Database, which compiles data on hydrogen compatibility of metals. Last, Roberta Delia, Fracture and Fatigue Mechanics Engineer at RINA, will present the guidelines developed through the project for material evaluation under hydrogen and their practical relevance.

The day will conclude with a Q&A session, allowing participants to raise questions and share their feedback. The final workshop will therefore bring together the different strands of the CANDHy project – from its initial concept and experimental activities to modelling, data management and practical guidelines – offering an overview of the knowledge and outcomes developed throughout the initiative.
